Not so nice webhosts…

I’m certainly not very happy with how slow my website setting up is going and even less happy after being told “it will be ready in 30 minutes” and now it’s 8:18 p.m. so I guess I will wait until tomorrow. I want to clarify that this is the first time I own a domain and haven’t talked with “experienced domain owners”, so I don’t know if it’s normal to have to wait a week and a half to get your FTP passwords set.

But my story is nothing… I just read in a mood’s entry for yesterday and frankly speaking… what is wrong with some people??? Trish actually got her site deleted from the host because she didn’t accept a guy’s advances towards her?? That, for sure, is very unprofessional and I too would be as upset as she is.

Discussing The Oscars

I’m a big movie fan, go to the cinema every week and when they are showing the previews I’m mentally making a list of the films I want to see next. We also have a huge video collection with some really great movies, Oscar winners, and classics. And of course, every year I sit and watch the broadcasting of the Oscars. Tonight it was different… I sit there, very comfy on my lazy-boy with a notes-bloc and a pen to write the things that called my attention on this year’s event.

The big winners: Gladiator, Traffic and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. I was so happy when Julia Roberts was named Best Actress. She was so excited and her speech was so sweet; I especially liked it when she said: “I love it up here!”. She deserved that Oscar. Now, when it came to Russell Crowe as Best Actor… that guy is kind of cold, huh? He didn’t laugh at Steve Martin’s jokes once!. Ang Lee… just by looking at his face you can imagine how nice he is; he’s got this transparent and honest smile (I hope I’m not wrong). All three movies are good, although I haven’t seen the one from Taiwan.

I was kind of dissapointed because Chocolat didn’t win anything. If someone has heard the original music from the movie would agree with me in that it is lovely; plus the performance they make at the Oscars was amazing, by mixing it with the music of other movies… just amazing! And again, the orchestra was directed by Bill Conti… again, just amazing! I will buy Chocolat when it will be out in video, that’s for sure.

The fashion: I’m not too fond on it, but I loved Julia Robert’s outfit; very classic and elegant. Plus she didn’t look cheap or too provocating like Jennifer Lopez (I don’t know… I don’t think showing your nipples is elegant). I also liked Joan Allen’s dress with that orange color and the dress Sting’s wife was wearing (by Jean-Paul Gauthier). Now, of course I didn’t like some clothes, like Sara Jessica Parker’s… it just looked too normal and c’mon! a short dress for the Oscars??. But the most terrible outfit I saw was Bjork’s… My God! what was she thinking when decided to wear a swan? LOL! However, I’m not a fashion critic… these are just my thoughts.

The cute couples: Julia Roberts and Benjamin Bratt and Ashley Judd and her companion (is he her boyfriend, husband or what? No idea) looked so good together. Michael Douglas looking at his wife was inspiring, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are such a nice couple and Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn… I love the way they smile all the time. I was surprised to see Tom Cruise… he looked kind of lonely without Nicole. The cute guys: Ben Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Ashley Judd’s companion and Chow Yun-Fat :)

And I could go on and on and on. But the moments I loved the most tonight were when Julie Andrews was on stage, so elegant and warm and when Anthony Hopkins (my favorite actor of all times!) was talking about Dino Delaurentis (a great producer) with his cute british accent.

I posted enough for today… and as Ernest Lehman said: “Thank you my big beautiful audience”… for reading.

Down with the flu :-P

Well, it seems I’m another one who’s down with the flu and it’s not nice at all… it’s been more than a year since I had a flu the last time and I was having so much fun without it, but this the the season… The only fun part is taking care of my hubby who becomes this little kid when he’s sick (like the commercial of the guy calling “Deeeebieee… Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie….). Now he’s in the living room watching one of our movies (Meet the Parents) and eating the special “sick person meal” I made for him :)

And I wonder… Who’s gonna take care of me??? LOL! Mommy’s not here… oh how I miss her; I hope she will be able to come in the summer and we’ll have so much fun. She deserves it after all the sad moments in her life (lost a child in 1987 -my brother Carlos- and last year my dad died -they had been together for 36 years and were one of the most wonderfully in love couples-), plus she always has dreamed with coming to Canada and now I can make her dream come true!! I love my mom… I love her dearly and I’m proud of what she’s done in life and happy to be her daughter because she’s such a kind person… nobody can’t imagine how good she is. I think I’m gonna cry…

Quotes that matter

I can’t sleep… don’t know why. Maybe because I woke up very late and haven’t been too active today. Hubby’s down with a bad cold (poor little thing) and went to bed early, so I’m alone and bored :P Thank God my friend Sandra came online on ICQ so now I’m talking to her. BTW, she started sending me daily quotes and I liked one of them so much that I put it on top of this page… because it’s so true… today is what really matters.

Re-modeling website

Oh Gosh! have been working with this thing almost for 24 hours. Moved all the blog and changed the layout so it will be ready when my domain will be finally setup. I thought I was going to be able to do something this weekend, but John didn’t send me my passwords, so for now I put it into this “provisional” place and hopefully it will be all at bluetterfly.net by the middle of the week. I still have to change the information on the netrings :P and delete the other blog I had in Geocities… that is the NOT SO FUNNY part of being a webmaster.
