F5: Books

1. What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it? “Retrato en Sepia” (Portrait in Sepia) by Isabel Allende. Of course I enjoyed it! She’s my favorite author and she doesn’t have a book that isn’t just wonderful. The way she makes the descriptions of places, people and events is just so magic; and the historical content is absolutely fabulous. For someone who wants to read this book, I recommend to read “La Hija de la Fortuna” (The Daughter of Fortune) first ;)

2. What’s you’re most favorite book of all time? “The Little Prince” by Anthoine de Saint-Exupry. I don’t know why, but it has captivated me and in it’s simplicity many people can learn about the values of life, love, friendship and other beautiful things. My favorite quote of all times is “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; What is essential is invisible to the eyes”. That is just so true!

3. What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? That would be all the books I had to read in school for my Spanish courses. I just didn’t like the stories, even if the authors are good and the literature is rich. I just didn’t like them. I don’t think there are bad books… we just have different tastes.

4. What book that you’ve read would you most like to see adapted into a movie? Good question… I really can’t think about one now, but I know that many times when I read a book I just feel like wanting to see a movie based on it. But now that I think better… I would love to see more stories by Isabel Allende brought to the screen, and definitely Gabriel Garca Marquez’s!

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? Simple: cleaning :P LOL! Anyone interesting in coming to help me? ;)

New chat, music and friend

Well, it’s 1 a.m. here, I’m a night owl… But having fun! I’ve had a long nice chat with Nancze through AIM, but somehow she disappeared and went off, so if you read this, Nancze… good night! LOL

I also found myself a new read, Kristin and her Cool Mom’s Blog. She speaks Spanish and knows people from my country. How cool is that? Giving the credit to Maggie here for this new finding :) And thank you, Kristin for the nice messages!!

And to finish the list of the new things I’ve come to today, Daisey introduced me to the wonderful style of Ani Difranco. She’s great! Wonderful voice, wonderful guitar and powerful lyrics (check the 9/11 poem she wrote!). Definitely, so different from all that commercial music flooding our ears these days.

Now I can go to bed :)

Can’t Sleep :(

I can’t sleep… Something’s in my head. The thoughts of a 12 years old girl who came online tonight:

- She: Hello!
- Me: Who’s this?
- She: (Her name)
- Me: Hi (her name), how are you?
- She: Good. Are you coming to (event) on (day)?
- Me: No (her name), I haven’t been invited
- She: But my mom said you would come
- Me: Nope, I don’t think so.
- She: Oh… What are you doing?
- Me: Sending Thanksgiving greetings… :)
- She: Oh… you’re busy? I have to go to bed now.
- Me: Ok! Take care! Byeeee!

Weird. It’s hard to explain kids when things are not going well. But it’s really weird that their own parents kind of lie to them? Or maybe it’s better to hide the reality from them? Or at least, wouldn’t it be better if the parents didn’t say thing that are not true? Geez! I don’t know. I really would like to know what the heck is going on. Kids are NOT the people who have to get hurt when adults don’t get along. Because this girl must be thinking that I just don’t like her anymore… :(

The Good People

Just a small entry to say Thanks to Jess who left a very nice comment in one of my post. When someone says that they are just thankful because you exist… that is very heart warming. Especially for me these days… *sighs*

And I’m happy! Patrice’s favorite customer came from Chicoutimi (a city in the central part of the Province of Qubec) to visit us. He’s is such a nice person! :) and just because of how much he appreciates my husband, I like him!. It’s wonderful when you know that somebody out there likes someone who is like the whole world for you.

Ok, back to work now. We’re going bowling later… yeah baby! ;)
