New Year’s Eve

For the first time in my life I'll be out of home for New Year's Eve and I'll spend the evening only with one person: My darling Patrice! We're going for dinner at "La Cage aux Sports" to catch the New Year's Habs game. Isn't it fun?? I hope everyone will be having a great time tonight! I feel like visiting blogs and leaving good wishes, but I have to get ready. I have nice e-mails in my inbox that I'll have to reply tomorrow. Just rest assured that Bea is thinking of you!
Update: Change of plans! People in Montreal can actually understand why... ha ha! Has anyone seen how icy the roads are in this city after the "verglas"? We went out and saw a 5mm ice layer on the car. Na-ha! On va pas sortir comme ça. Delivery, yay! And Moulin Rouge on the Movie Network... Goodie!
More on Inner Circles
This is still about my last post; I think this is the day for reflections and introspection and I just want to say that I too have my Inner Circle, that circle of friends, the ones I love, the ones I read every day simply because I want to know how they are doing even if we chat often. However we don't go making it public or using it as a shield to do as we please and intimidate everyone because we have "backup", or because we have a supporting crew. I'm not talking about that popular bloggers issue here, but rather about the one of cliques of people who spend their time gossiping, slandering and making a cult out of their friendship, and filling other people's comment fields with empty messages and no real meaning.
Bravo!
I'm going to bed now, but before I want to say something and I hope I got the point because I do believe something is very wrong with the whole blogging scene and how some people are making their way in the public life*. I had to see a few well known bloggers' very unfriendly comments on a friend's post today, so the whole issue comes handy. Long post ahead!
Bravo Jennifer and Christine (two well-known bloggers) for their last posts about the blogging scene!! My thoughts are in their comments, and I also pasted them here. It was about time things like these were told and I want to thank both of these girls, for actually voicing the feelings of many of us who feel trapped in a weird blogosphere where the most linked is the coolest and viceversa, and if you are last on the Blogrolling Top 100 List, then you better shut up. Not to mention all those cliques mantained by people who want the rest of the world to be at their feet, and the minute you say NO to them, then you better run and hide (I personally "prefer" the first option).
No, it's not about being popular itself, it's about the popular people knowing how to have charm, practice it, keep their audiences and not make others feel as if they are not worth it, simply because their stats show less than 100 hits per day, or because you don't brush their backs all the time.
Relaxing Herbs
Mmmmm!! For Christmas my mother in law brought me a bottle of Herbal Bath from "Dans un jardin". You put a few tbsp. in a sachet and drop it in your bath. They smell delicious and are definitely relaxing; I needed that hour in the bath-tub, with a book, while Patrice was taking a nap. Now I feel renewed, but I think I'll go to bed rather early, considering that I stayed up until the wee hours working on this new layout.
I got three late Christmas cards today, but they are happily welcome because they came from three great friends: Peter, who sent me a most classy card (made by him, I assume!) with a very meaningful message about our friendship. Sophia, who put a cute little book with Chinese proverbs in the envelope and I just love it. And Shauna who sent me a cute card with a passage from the bible. Thank you, thank you all!
Have a good night, everyone!
Why Not
For people who have read this blog for a while, it is not a mistery that I tend to discuss politics, rant about Bush and his war on terror and basically express my concern about anything nuclear-related. But these days I'm trying to make myself quiet simply because of the intolerance of some people, and I have to admit that I have learned that I really don't like to be attacked or made fun of for my views. But since I'm a Colombian living in Canada I don't discuss these countries politics either.
