I remembered that today is This or That Tuesday, thanks to Christine.

Ego Boosters

Excuse me, this is cheap personal praise after an ego-booster post by my co-patriot blogger Camilo. He has proposed me for the Lady of the Blogrolling Ring Award, ha ha ha!! Gracias, gracias… No merezco este reconocimiento, pero lo acepto humildemente… Je je!

Seriously? As silly as the whole thing may sound it came in a moment when I really needed a reason to smile (in fact the smile was so big and idiotic my face hurts) and I have big news… big big news! No, it’s not a baby (darn it!), but I’ll tell you later.

Tech Questions

Ugh! I actually hit the wrong key and closed the window when I was done with this entry. Ok, I’ll type it again. I have a couple of questions for those who know a lot about the WWW.

1. I’m re-doing Patrice’s website (peek if you want, but there are a lot of broken links and the site is in French) and when I was coding the footer to make the includes he asked me “Why do you use that © sign? My stuff is not legally copyrighted”. My question is: Can I use that © even if the content of the website hasn’t gone through the legal yadda yadda? Is it better to put only “Content by whoever”? Please, enlighten me.

2. I’m also going to re-do my office’s website (talk about reducing costs because I’m also creating a logo, ha ha!), but we are hosted in a NT server and I have no idea of how to work for dynamic websites out of the Unix environment. So far the site is static and I’m using plain HTML, but I want to make includes and I think NT doesn’t support PHP or SSI (am I utterly wrong?) I guess I’ll have to learn some ASP. What are your opinions and do you know where I can find a good (and easy) tutorial to at least the basic stuff?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Send the Missiles!

A few days ago, when I was introduced to the genial writing of Pierre Foglia by my husband, I read an article called “Ça fait peur” (about oil and Iraq) where he said “I need a vacation! I will end up biting someone!”. So far, that is what I’ve been saying too every time I read or see a news about the whole Iraq-U.S. conflict.

No more! I want no more of it; I want all the circus to stop, the comedy of the UN inspections to be over, and that the U.S. and the UK launch the stupid war they have planned for February, so we’ll know for once if all this crap about weapons of mass destruction is true or not, if the world will be a better place without Iraq posing threats, and most of all we’ll see if the Iraqi people will be treated like humans when they freed them from the horrible dictator Saddam Hussein. I also want to see if the U.S. will get their vengeance after September 11th and if the pain will be less when the toll of war is being given.

Blogs of Our Lives

With a little bit of intrigue, scandal and drama about cheating and the well-known popularity issues, the 2003 Bloggie Awards are up and running. The grid with the nominations was put online a few days ago and everyone around the blogosphere is choosing their favorites in 30 categories. I wanted to write a good post about the Bloggies and I’ll try my best.

I will start by saying that when I launched the Blogrollers webring I made cheap publicity and asked to be nominated. Two years ago, when the Bloggies came up for the first time I had no idea they existed, and last year I was in the “Bah! It’s just another popularity contest” wagon. But during the last year I’ve tried to keep myself away from anything that could mine my blogger spirit and I try to participate as actively as I can in all these fun activities (memes, group logs, projects and so on); so this year I’m following the Bloggies like I follow the Oscars, the Golden Globs: out of curiosity.
