Three Hours Notice

I had a very weird night of sleep yesterday. Went to bed around midnight and woke up around 5 a.m. in the middle of some kind of nightmare I can’t remember. Came online, posted an entry I had on draft and went back to bed to wake up at 11:53 a.m. with the sound of the phone. I heard Patrice talking to someone, but didn’t pay attention to the conversation until he came in the bedroom and told me “Elisa will bring Jeremy to her grandma’s and then she’ll pick you up to see the 3:10 function of a movie”, ha ha! I thought: Great! The hubby is now planning my life with my friends… I think he was really eager to see me go and have some fun after a long week of work.

The Unseen War

warsucks.jpg

“War is at best a necessary evil, and I am certain that anyone that feels differently has never experienced or been in it. This (past) war and any one looming, have often been treated as something akin to a ‘Nintendo game’. This view conveniently obscures the vivid and often grotesque realities apparent to those directly involved in war” — Peter Turnley

Skeptical Hope

“All we are saying is give peace a chance”, another message by John Lennon that fits right into this day where thousands of people are going in the streets to protest against a war with Iraq. A friend told me he was going to write his thoughts on this “possible” war and I said that for me it was “sure thing”. Sad, I feel very sad knowing that even though there will be many of us asking for a new chance for peace, the United States of America will get away with it… once again. I’ve always been skeptical, yet I have some hope, but the history tells me something different. Our voices are not important when other interests are in the middle. The quest for justice and freedom has become the quest for power and money and the unstoppable monster of arrogance and greed will show its ugly face once again. All I can do is put my head down and ask mercy from the Divinity because I really don’t see a way out to all this, especially after those warheads have been found. Bush and his people do have a reason… that’s all they needed. Thank you, Mr. Osama for putting the war on a silver plate.

The Gazette: Dozens of Quebec’s unions, labour federations, artists’ groups, students and other civil organizations will be singing “give peace a chance” at the Montreal stretch of an international march for peace. An estimated 5,000 are expected to show up for event that will start downtown at 1 p.m, on the corner of Guy St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd.

There’s a feeling that we can’t do much, but at least we can show our numbers” — Denise Babin.

Cool Script by Pariah

My web buddy Pariah has created a most useful multi-browser script so you can use one single button (or link) to open the sidebar of your Blogrolling list either on IE or Netscape (it does a browser detection and launches the correspondent sidebar). Check it out and say hello to Pariah. He’s a cool guy!
