Iraq Body Count

Published by Bea under News, Thoughts

This morning I was watching CBC and one of the guys was interviewing Scott Lipscomb, one of the creators of Iraq Body Count. His questions were tricky and tripping and I was wondering what the journalist really wanted; I mean, it’s his job to inquire, but I was getting kind of upset because I had the feeling he was minimizing the impact of the civilian deaths in Iraq.

The facts are simple: The count goes up to more than 500 civilian casualties in this war and that is all that matters. But the worse thing is that this number could be much smaller than the real one and I don’t see anything but its coming up every day with so much bombing of public places where normal people, like you and I, are living their lives in the country of Iraq… While Saddam is nowhere in sight.

Flood Alert!

Published by Bea under Life

How did two guys taking care of the changing of the heater manage to flood my bathroom and mess up my carpet? I have no idea, but it’s hilarious. My bedroom hall is now lined with beautiful towels and I hope the water won’t filter into the downstairs apt. One of the guys was really ashamed, but hey… I’m feeling down with this cold and all I managed to answer was “If only all problems in life were like this”. And it’s true, no big deal, I learned that from my mom.

Now excuse me, I will finish drying up my flooded house.

Dawson me, please!

Published by Bea under Media

I’ve always liked Dawson’s Creek, but the guys at the TV stations here in Montreal were always changing the grid and I was never able to follow the story in a decent manner. What was my (happy) surprise when yesterday I found out that TBS is going to show it all, episode by episode, every week day from 8 to 12; yes, 4 episodes a day. I’m now waiting for the guy who’s coming to change our water heater for a new one, and checking on the lives of the kids at Capeside. I might buy the DVD. Fun fun!

The Wall Street Blog

Published by Bea under Geeky

How did BeaLog end up being listed here? I have no idea. I don’t even understand what NASDAQ is, the Wall Street Journal is Chinese and the Financial Times is Japanese. No entiendo nada, rien, nichts. So, the fact that my blog is now in some kind of kiddie stock market really puzzles me and I don’t have the time or the will to find out how it works, but if you happen to see some good movement with BeaLog, let me know. Really! Where do people find the time to get involved in all these things?

Sugar or Panic?

Published by Bea under Life

The problem with having a bad health that includes Diabetes and Panic Disorder is that sometimes you don’t know if you’re experiencing a panic attack or low blood sugar. Patrice just went to the pharmacy to get me more test strips for the glucometer so I can check if I’m having an episode of hypoglycemia because I’m feeling like poop… I want my mommy. I just had a candy and if in 15 minutes I don’t feel better I think I’ll have to call for help… Darn!

Thank you, Pariah!

Published by Bea under Life

Do you see the new logo and the photo up there? Isn’t it cool when you open your e-mail and find that someone took the time to do something nice for you? Yay! I’ve spent the weekend in bed with a bad cold, I have no voice and my head feels dizzy. Today I got the strength to get up and check what’s online and I found Pariah did this for me, how cool is that! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I had to put it up just to show him how moved I am. Now I’m going back to bed…

Ouch! My eyes!

Published by Bea under Life

This is one of those silly things that happen to people from time to time; my brain is on stand-by mode today, but I felt like writing something in here before retiring for the weekend. Do you have eye drops around? Use them… it’s going to hurt, ha ha!

Today I waited and waited to take a shower and when Patrice finally arrived I got in the shower to do some kind of lady’s ritual (you know, the whole nine yards with shaving and stuff). I was all happy feeling the water running, took my shampoo and proceeded to clean my hair. I usually leave the shampoo act while I soap the rest of my body and today disaster hit me… in a bad movement of my hand I managed to put a huge amount of soap in my eyes… ouch ouch ouch! And of course my reflexes told me to rinse them, but guess what? We ran out of water!

Don’t Be Afraid

Published by Bea under Media

From Life Outtacontext: Michael Moore held nothing back when he took his opportunity to “thank the Academy” for his Oscar Sunday night. Neither did the audience when it tried to boo him off the stage for candidly stating his sentiments about America’s recent foreign policy. While Adrien Brody was more elegant and Susan Sarandon was elegantly minimalist, each found a way to speak up about the Iraqi War.

If you feel it’s important to speak your mind and state your opinion, no matter what it is, feel free to place either of these Don’t Be Afraid to Speak Up graphics on your Web site. The 30/70 refers to the polls which state that 30% of the public is against America’s involvement in the war in Iraq and 70% support its numbers that are controversial in their own right.
