Still Alive!

Published by Bea under Life

Gosh! Five days without a post with no special reason? Summer is really kicking in and I’m keeping myself busy with stuff at home and outside; I’ve read two books in less than a week, I’ve been doing crafts, walking, watching lots of movies and having fun with the hubby. It’s hot and humid outside, but we’re enjoying our new AC unit. I really don’t have much to say, but I know there are a few people who come and check BeaLog on a daily basis and I wanted to let them know that I’m fine and happy.

I’ve been seriously thinking about a long summer break, but I have to be sure my current “offline” status desire is not just a one-day-flower, if you know what I mean. This is a Holiday week for Quebec’s people with the Saint-Jean tomorrow and then Canada Day next week, so I’m kind in a festive mood and not willing to spend more than a few minutes in front of the computer. So, next week I’ll decide the fate of BeaLog during the summer for good.

I hope everyone’s having a fantastic time!

Beautiful Summer Days

Published by Bea under Life

The more time I spend offline, the less I want to come online. We’re having such beautiful summer days here in Montreal that I don’t feel like sitting in front of the computer. Apart from that design project I’m working on, the internet is not very appealing for me these days, no matter how much I miss chatting with the few friends I have or posting about this or that here.

This morning I got a call from Elisa, she invited me over her house and we spent the whole day on her deck, enjoying the sunshine and talking about… well, stuff. She’ll tell the story later, I guess ;) I had so much fun with Jeremy playing in the backyard while he ate “uvas” (that’s Italian and Spanish for grapes). Really! Who wants to be on the internet when real life looks so good? Elisa’s deck is like a little resort for me, since I live in a condo and I don’t go out in the balcony that much. Fun fun!

Can I blog, please?

Published by Bea under Life

I’ve been so busy! With so many things to do my blog has passed to the second or third floor of my priorities and sometimes I have so many things to say that I get lazy and end up closing the window before finishing writing the post. But I miss blogging, I miss reading blogs, I miss chatting with my friends! Not being around for more than a week really puts me behind so many stories on the blogosphere, darn it!

I’m designing a logo and a website for a company in San Diego, plus taking care of things for Patrice’s office web stuff and planning another website for our programmer’s company — Gawd! It’s good, it’s great actually, but it takes all of my free time. I love working on these things, but I need to get organized. So this book came right on time, along with this one and this other one — Thank you so much, Lor and Gordon for the wonderful gift. I’m still speechless… wowsa! Got them this morning. I have so many ideas in my head and I really need planning.

What else? I don’t know! We got the new car yesterday and we’re totally happy with it. Plus, Ford was celebrating its 100 years and we saw part of the big party they had at the dealer with old cars, so nice! They really like us there, and I’m grateful for it. Our car is basic, so it doesn’t have CD player but we got one, he he! Now I can listen to my favorite CDs “sur la route”. I haven’t even taken photos yet.

You see? I’m a mess — I have more to post about, but that’ll be later… I’m still working on logos and brochures and my brother would die if he found out. He’s a graphic designer, I’m not! I should be giving these clients to him, but life works in mysterious ways. We’ll see how it turns.

This or That # 16,17, 18

Published by Bea under Memes

I’m two weeks late with my This or That, so this is a catch up.

1. Newspapers or magazines? Weakness for magazines.
2. Books-on-tape or regular books? Regular.
3. Paperback or hardcover? Paperbacks means cheaper ;-)
4. Fiction or non-fiction? Depends on the story.
5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy or romance novels? Romance.
6. Borrow from library or buy books? I like to buy what I want.
7. Subscribe to magazines or buy on newsstand? Buy them.
8. Current best-sellers or classic literature? Depends.
9. Read books once, or re-read favorites every so often? Both.
10. Here in the U.S., we have two hot best-sellers…former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s memoirs, and the new Harry Potter book (coming out June 21). If you had to read one, which one…Hillary or Harry? Why? Harry Potter because I don’t give a darn about what Hillary Clinton has to say.

A week ago:

1. “The Munsters” or “The Addams Family”? The Adams Family.
2. “The Sopranos” or the “Godfather” movies? Neither :-P
3. “The Jetsons” or “Lost in Space”? The Jetsons
4. “Superman” or “Batman”? Batman!
5. “Sex & The City” or “Friends”? Friends.
6. “The Wizard of Oz” or the “Harry Potter” movies? I like both!
7. “The Simpsons” or “King of the Hill”? The Simpsons (although I like KOTH music).
8. “Grease” or “Saturday Night Fever”? You’re the one that I want ;-)
9. Old prime-time soaps: “Dallas” or “Dynasty”? Ewwww!
10. TV shows or movies? I’m a sucker for movies ;-)

Two weeks ago:

1. Cats or dogs? I like both, but more of a dog person.
2. Butterflies or birds? I like both.
3. Horses or cows? Cows are kind of cute.
4. Turtles or snakes? Turtles. Sea Turtles :-)
5. Frogs or grasshoppers? Frogs.
6. Lions or tigers? Tigers are so cool!
7. Elephants or mice? Elephants!
8. Porcupines or aardvarks? What is an aardvark??
9. Unicorns or dragons? Unicorns.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You live in a rather dumpy apartment. A friend offers you a chance to be a roommate at a new place s/he is moving into, but they don’t allow pets. You have a pet. Do you find your pet a new home and take the new place, or do you keep your pet and stay put? I keep the pet!

Focusing Again

Published by Bea under Life

On May 22nd Patrice had a nasty accident in our 2002 Ford Focus. Two weeks after they told us the car had been totaled and we were getting a new one. Today, 3 weeks later, we’re finally going to pick up a brand new 2003 Ford Focus, for the same price, but different color (we had a black one, now we’re getting a beautiful red one, that we actually saw parked last night at the dealer, waiting for us, he he!). I’m excited! They told us they have a surprise for us, which we have absolutely no idea. We know we won some kind of raffle and now Patrice is going to have a nice Ford jacket, but there’s something else.

New cars are cool. I wish this one would’ve come in different circumstances, but I have to be grateful that we are able to pay for insurance, that nothing happened to my husband and that we can afford a vehicle for transportation. I’ll post pictures later!

Arepitas de Maíz

Published by Bea under Colombia
