Some (or many) Canadians will think I’m crazy when I say I’m going to miss Jean Chrétien. Some also will think I totally lost it when I say I think that despite his very “special” moments I happen to admire him because he has shown he’s got pants, he says what he thinks, he’s not afraid to say it and he has, indeed, done wonders for the sake of other countries in need. Yes, I’m going to miss Johnny Boy, and apparently I’m not alone… phew!
But I really don’t know much about Canadian politics, I’m still learning. Now this country will have a new designated Prime Minister called Paul Martin, who took the lead of the Liberal Party last night and whose speech kind of impressed me (I just hope he won’t be like this clown of Liberal Party leader we have in Québec… Sorry, I cannot stand that Charest person). This is one of the reasons I want to become a Canadian citizen, so I can vote and participate actively in the history of this country; I’m not a political party person, I vote for the one I think can do better things. Right now it seems Paul Martin is the guy and I wish him wisdom to continue and improve what Mr. Chrétien has done since 1993.
