Let Liam Sing

Am I getting annoying with the whole “Love Actually” issue? Well, take this one… I’m blogging about the movie again. Last night I watched the Deleted Scenes included in the DVD and have just one little thought to share: I’m not a prude or anything and I certainly didn’t mind the naked couple story, but after seeing what they had to cut in order to make the movie of a normal length, I think they could’ve just forgotten all about them and include more of the Liam Nesson story, especially when he mimics Scott Walker. You HAVE to see this deleted scene… It’s lovely ;-) Right. Ahhh… Britain…

So Spoiled!

Hate me all you want, I’m a spoiled little brat with a husband that doesn’t help the situation when he comes home from work after stopping to buy a little gift for me. Oh well, he likes it too, so that makes two spoiled brats living in this household. Now excuse me, time to watch the “Love Actually” deleted scenes. And I want to dance with Hugh Grant as well, heh!

Une bonne journée

What makes a day a good day? Finally getting your freaking driver’s license! I’m not going to go back in history and tell you my really sad story of family deaths, bureaucracy and nasty evaluators, I’m just happy that I can drive by myself in Canada… I’m free! Now I can actually keep my promise to visit people who live around. I will admit it openly, I dread public transportation, I suffer from anxiety, I can’t help it. Now, when I’ll go to school it’ll be a different story, it’ll be something I HAVE to do, but I just don’t feel like taking the bus (metro or train) to go visiting people, no sir.

After the happy news about my “permis de conduire”, Patrice and I stopped at the local video club to grab a copy of one of the most wonderful movies we’ve seen lately: “Love Actually“. If you haven’t seen it, you have no idea of what you’re missing. This movie, let me tell you, will keep the butterflies in your stomach for a while; it’s funny, romantic, inspiring and has a wonderful cast. Of course I’m biased with Colin Firth, but that’s another story. The hubby promised he’s going to buy it for me, but I’m not going to nag him about it… I just want it to make part of our Movie collection.

The Swan

I watched 10 minutes of the new FOX series “The Swan” and it was enough to disgust me for the rest of the week. I tried to have some compassion and put myself in the shoes of the two women whose lives will be “changed” in tonight’s episode (yeah, whatever) and I even understand how it feels to be made fun of and all the issues they describe. But then I thought… Where has this world come to, that someone feels that appreciation and acceptance only comes from the outside. I don’t blame the women, I blame us… the humankind that is terribly mean and hurtful. We humans are disgusting, I’m ashamed, always going for looks, not stopping to realize all the damage we can do to someone.

Some people may laugh at me, but there is so much superficiality around, it’s unbelievable. I feel like spitting on the face of every person that believes they’re so freaking beautiful the rest of the world doesn’t deserve a chance. To hear a woman say that she wants to be beautiful to finally feel loved is just too sad; then you hear that her husband kissed another girl who was prettier… Excuse me, what kind of husband do you have? And then she goes and puts herself in danger with all those plastic surgeries? Have you seen how humiliating this show is? To see these women treated like cattle, suffering and then to be put in some kind of contest for who becomes “The Swan”? Because at the end of the series only one of them will be declared “perfect”. And what is worse, they do it because they feel they have to do it in order to feel better about themselves? Gawd!

Yes, this world is much more messed up than I thought. These woman might feel prettier and better after the make-over, but will their lives really change? Beauty fades, take it or leave it. If you don’t think you’re good enough as a human being because of who you are, not what you look like, nobody else will.
