Farewell to my friend

So, my best friend is moving to Japan. I’m really happy for her, but I’m starting to feel a little nostalgic. It’s really silly, for I’m already far away from her, but at least I knew that when I was going to Colombia I was able to see her. Now we’re going to have a big ocean in between and who knows when we’ll see each other again. I was hoping she was going to be in New York on her way to the land of the rising sun (so I could go and see her), but her layover will be in Miami. She’s feeling a little bit scared because this is a huge change in her life, but she needs new horizons and I’m glad she has this new chance to do something important with her life… I just wish it wasn’t so far away… No, I cannot be selfish, I love her too much and I know her life is going to be great; she deserves it, more than anyone else.

On a Day Like Today

I woke up with a smile on my face after a good night with the one I love. I drank the best cup of coffee in the world, said hello to my good friends online, gave a quick call to my mom in Colombia to listen to the stories about that crazy nephew of mine. Meanwhile, the sun was shining out there, just a few scattered clouds in the blue sky and we planned a little trip out to fuel and wash the car. On our way back we stopped to get really nice flowers from the hubby’s workplace, and a few hot-dogs and buns at the convenience and came home to relax for the rest of the day while doing laundry.

On a day like today, when you drive in your car with the windows open and good music is playing on the radio, you see the people having fun outside and the smiles on children’s faces; then you feel grateful for your life, your freedom, your chances. You feel blessed that you don’t live in a country ravaged by violence, war, famine, oppression, foreign invasions and so on. On a day like today you don’t take your life for granted and you look up to the sky and say a big thank you to the Good God for being alive, for having all your senses working perfectly. On a day like today, like Bryan Adams would say, you never wanna to see the sun go down…

On a day like today
the whole world could change
the sun’s gonna shine
shine thru the rain
on a day like today
ya never wanna see the sun go down
ya never wanna see the sun go down…

Microsoft goes iPod

Interesting: “Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest software maker, will begin selling portable music players for as much as 80 percent less than Apple Computer Inc.’s iPod. The Microsoft-branded devices will “look and feel” as good as the iPod for as little as $50.” [Found in the Denver Post, via Replikka]

Got Pickle?

Le Cornichon is a weblog maintained by a very talented guy who does the funniest photo-montages about Canada and its political happenings. Every time I visit, I have a reason to laugh out loud, so I’m sharing the link with my visitors. The site is in French (Take that, Mr. Harper! I wish I could vote… BLOC, heh!), but it doesn’t stop you from looking at the images, and if you’re Canadian, you sure will get a kick from it. Absolutely fantastic!

Blogs and Whatnots

I really need to check my blogroll and see what’s going on in the blogosphere. I’ve been so involved in my own life (playing the housewife, reading and watching the Gilmore Girls Season 1) that I forget there are other people out there posting about theirs as well. The blogworld is going through big upheavals after the changes in Movable Type, everyone seems to be switching CMSs and putting their weblogs in hiatus while they tweak things. I’ve decided to stay with my current version of MT simply because, for me, it works well, it’s set up to my liking, I know how to do stuff with it, I don’t need all the mumbo-jumbo with the new versions and I don’t feel like playing the techie these days (although I have to admit that ExpressionEngine looks like a really neat tool, but I just can’t afford it). I wanted to post an entry with deeper thoughts on this, but that would be a waste of time. 2.661 it is, for now.
