Oh Martha!

Dear Mrs. Martha Stewart, to compare yourself with Nelson Mandela is not only preposterous, it’s ridiculous. You think being able to sleep on the ground is a great exploit? Oh well! While Mr. Mandela fought for a good cause, you have an empire of homemaking goodies that makes us, normal housewives, be frustrated sometimes for not being as perfect as you. How can that be compared to an Anti-Apartheid cause which looked forward to equity? Puzzles me.

Les Invasions Barbares

Today, I finally understood why “Les Invasions Barbares“, by Denys Arcand, won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. This movie is one of the best I’ve seen in my life; it has the perfect balance between smiles and tears and the cast is excellent. Just for the record, I kept crying 5 minutes after the credits were shown. I saw “Le Déclin de L’Empire Américain” on TV just a few months after I arrived in Montreal for the first time and I was thrilled to see there was a sequel last year. I didn’t catch it when it was released in theatres, but I’m glad I saw it yesterday at the video club, when I wasn’t really looking for it. Go head, watch it now! Quebecers should be absolutely proud, I know they are.

Another Personality Thing

This 20 Questions Personality Test is everywhere. Here are my results.

Wackiness: 50/100
Rationality: 66/100
Constructiveness: 60/100
Leadership: 38/100

You are an SRCF–Sober Rational Constructive Follower. This makes you a White House staffer. You are a tremendous asset to any employer, cool under pressure, productive, and a great communicator. You feel the need to right wrongs (YEP!), take up slack, mediate disputes and keep the peace. This comes from a secret fear that business can’t go on without you–or worse, that it can.

If you have a weakness, it is your inability to say “no.” While your peers respect you, they find it difficult to resist taking advantage of your positive attitude and eagerness to take on work. You depend on a good manager to keep you from sinking under the weight and burning out.

Helping Diabetics

I recently joined the “Help Someone You Know” campaign the Canadian Diabetes Association is leading to collect funds that will go to Diabetes research, so a cure will be found. If anyone is interested in helping US by making a donation, check my Sponsorship Page. If you are interested in being a volunteer, you can sign up to become one (there aren’t many, so please, think about it!). There are many campaigns about other diseases, with great success; I hope Diabetes research touches your heart as well. I thank you in advance, from the bottom of my Diabetic heart!

Happy Woman

Oh, there I am again! ;-) It’s good to see my name around, makes it for a perfect day, despite the horrible humidity out there. I went shopping, which is always good for the woman’s soul, right? Finally got myself the Third Season of Dawson’s Creek and bought a few things to send a care package to little Mariana, her parents and her proud big brother (blanket, clothes, bivs with cute messages, chocolates, T-Shirts, toys…). I also bought a new bra, who cares, ha ha… And a Basal Thermometer, yep. I’m going to start keeping track of my body temperatures not exactly because we’re planning on babies, but because I’ve never done it before and since things are getting normal, the last thing I want now is an un-planned pregnancy right in the middle of my studies. If I made that decision, I might as well stick to it.
