Loan Woes

Published by Bea under Life

Panic: noun. Realizing you forgot to put some VERY important information inside your Student Loan application and probably that’s why you haven’t heard from the Ministère de l’éducation yet. DARN IT! I found out by myself because I had a “funny feeling” and yes, there it was, the good page I was supposed to send with the required information, while the bad one (the draft) is somewhere at the Bureau d’aide financière aux études.

Breathe and relax… I’ll call tomorrow to check what can be done. Meanwhile, I’m taking donations, ha! Not really, but I’m seriously rethinking my finances.

Credited, oui!

Published by Bea under Life

I’m back, with three extra credits accepted, w00t! That means I don’t have to take any Biostatistics courses, whew! Not that I have anything against them, but I surely can do without for now and move to more interesting things. I stopped at the video club on my way back, but I was too chicken to rent “The Passion of The Christ“, even if there were loads of copies available. I managed to come home with “The Laws of Attraction” and “Ella Enchated” instead. This definitely will be a chick-flick afternoon. After a nap, that is… Yawn!

Claudia on Wiki

Published by Bea under Colombia, Webbies

I really like Wiki, the power it gives you to go and change information on websites when this information is wrong. Just now I went to Wikipedia and changed something about an old school friend who has become famous as a news anchor and is now working for CNN. I have no idea if she remembers me or not, but I’m darn proud of her. We both were Scouts and she was a really sweet girl, I’m always happy to see people I know doing well in life!

Here’s Claudia. I was able to see her in action thanks to TeleLatino. :-)

Place au Hockey !

Published by Bea under News

I guess living in Canada, I’m not the only one who’s excited about the World Cup of Hockey. The national team will play against the US tonight, that’s some match! And now I have to go ready because… yikes! I’m going to school. ;-)

Not So Proud

Published by Bea under Colombia, News

What now, fumigation with Napalm? It is only those pesky Colombians living there, you know? Then again, the government of the USA has always been famous for its ability to defoliate other countries, while doing nothing about their addict President.” — Sometimes I wish I could write like Camilo. This is regarding a new variety of Coca drug lords have developed in Colombia, which seems to be resistant to Glyphosate. I feel so NOT proud tonight… I feel like spitting on the face of every cocaine dealer and addict right now, there is no room for compassion, I’m afraid. My country is more important than that.

Legal Photographers

Published by Bea under Geeky

Despite my incapacity to take good photos, I’m a sucker for photography and I very much enjoy the few photologs I visit. In my little attempt to enter the world of point and click, I have sent a few photos to Disclosure where they display Canada and Canadians. Anyway, I just found a link to the Legal Handbook for Photographers with a few ideas on how to protect yourself and your work. Interesting. [Via Camilo]

Security in Athens

Published by Bea under News

Now the Olympic Games are almost over (in an hour or so), I wonder about the security breaches. First when a crazy Canadian jumped in the swimming pool and today when another crazy man (from Portugal Ireland, it seems) stopped the Brazilian runner who was leading the marathon (how frustrating!). I mean, if these two people could do things like that so easily, I’m sure Athens wasn’t a terrorist target after all, otherwise the stories could be different. Yikes!

Phone Card Question

Published by Bea under Geeky

Question for people living in Canada with family and friends abroad: What’s the best calling card I can find? The options are so many, I just don’t know what to choose and I really want to start using them. Currently I make calls through Patrice’s office, but I always end up feeling guilty, even if he says it’s OK. The Phone Card Store has a wide selection, but I want callers opinion. Help?
