Aquatic Drama (Epilogue)

Published by Bea under Funnies, Life

We decided to get rid of the evil fish today. When we woke up this morning, we found out the convict male had terrorized and hurt the female, so we had to isolate her. Then we decided we had enough, we brought them to a local fish store, and they gladly took them. We spent a good amount of time at the store choosing new tank residents.

We now have docile fish (ballerinas, angel fish, corys, loaches). I couldn’t stand the carnage any longer. Oh wait, what am I saying? The new fishies are feeding on convict babies now. Oh well… At least these won’t grow to feed on each other.

Aquatic Drama

Published by Bea under Funnies, Life

Did I tell you about the fish drama here?

I’m traumatized! My boyfriend has a fish tank, and when I moved in with him there were about 7 fish in it; 2 oscars, 4 convict cichlids and a jaguar. All are aggressive little buggers.

A few days later, one of the oscars died because he was sick with some kind of skin disease. I didn’t flush it, my BF did.

A couple of weeks after that, one of the female convicts died when BF cleaned the tank, and the fish got trapped under a rock, but we didn’t notice. We just thought she was there because the tank cleaning usually makes fish uncomfy. When we found out about the rock and we removed it, the fish went belly up. I felt like crying, I’m a sissy.

So we were down to 5. But the drama continues…

There were two male convicts left, a female convict, an oscar and the jaguar. But one of the male convicts terrorized and killed the other. I just thought he was being a bastard… and then he terrorized and killed the jaguar as well!

Tired of the carnage, I called a fish store to ask them if they took fish, with no success, the guy I talked to was kind of an arrogant prick. I decided not to look at the tank anymore since I told my BF I wasn’t going to take care of it from the very beginning.

Then I woke up yesterday, checked the tank and what did I find? Hundreds of baby fish… hundreds! Turns out, the female convict was full of eggs, and the male was fighting for his reproductive rights. But why the heck did this idiot kill the jaguar too? I have no idea!

So now we’re down to one oscar who seems to be the king of the tank (that’s probably why he hasn’t got murdered by evil convict), the two happy parents and a baby explosion! Last night we went out for dinner and when we came back I didn’t see any babies, so I thought “OMG! These monsters killed their offspring!” — But nope, they’re mouth carriers, so babies were sleeping. I can see them today.

The oscar is kind of isolated, though. I feel bad for the guy.

Friday’s Feast 137

They have a new home, and they’re looking good!

Appetizer
What are you proud of?
Of being strong enough to risk it in another country, even when things went wrong. Of how brave I ended up being to face the world on my own. Of having learnt two foreign languages and using them fluently. Of the person my parents made of me, of my capacity for compassion and love.

Soup
What is the best thing you’ve ever won as a prize?
Oh dear. I don’t remember winning a lot of prizes, but I do remember winning a raffle when I was a kid. It was this gigantic doll who could walk and talk. I don’t remember her name, but she was the size of a 3-4 year old. Her dress was yellow, that I remember. Oh wait, her name was Paola.

Salad
Name something you do that is a waste of time.
Well, I don’t think it is a waste of time, but I sure spend way too much time playing Nintendo DS these days, especially after becoming addicted to Animal Crossing. I even have a weblog for it!

Main Course
In what year of your life did you change the most?
I have to say 2000 and 2005. In 2000 I left my country to move to Canada, acquired a new culture, a new language and started a married life. But my father died in that year too, and that changed everything for me. In 2005 I became a separated woman, and for the first time in my life I understood I had to live my life on my own to become stronger.

Dessert
Where is a place you consider to be very tranquil?
I can say my own home, but right now I’m thinking my mom’s house. I don’t know what is it about that place, there’s always a peaceful atmosphere I can’t really explain. It’s like every single thing at mom’s emanates something good. That’s because she’s there…

New domain, same weblog

Published by Bea under Weblog

I think I have talked enough about the wonderful things my boyfriend does for me every day. This new domain is another one of them. Thank you, sweetheart! He not only got this for me, but transferred all my files, took care of my data bases, and had it up and running perfectly in less than 2 hours. I need one of those “I ♥ My Geek” T-Shirts.

After almost two years of living for free at Babs‘ website (’coz she’s my cyber angel and I owe her BIG time), I decided it was time to wean. I can afford it now, so here it is… Betizuka.com — Too cheesy? That has been my screen name for as long as I can remember. I don’t have a smartass title for the weblog either, so we’ll just call it The Weblog for now.

I’m still plotting an evil retake of Bealog.com one of these days. Back order, anyone? Revenge will be mine!

To be loved like this…

Published by Bea under Life, Thoughts

I had one of those uncomfortable conversations with my mother this morning. She has a view of the world I don’t share, and she doesn’t accept the fact that I can’t see the world through her eyes all the time. Other than that, we love each other very much. But every time we disagree, I’m left with a bitter taste in my mouth. My mom means the world to me, and I can’t help but feeling guilty after I get too passionate about the things I believe in. Anyway… That’s what mothers and daughters do all the time.

The big deal about this conversation with my mom is what came afterwards when I told my boyfriend about it. He gave me his opinion and told me what he thinks my relationship with my mother is like. He nailed it, right there, he knows exactly what goes on. Mom and I are two opposites that attract, but that also unbalance each other at times. Then I said my dad probably failed to understand that at some point and got frustrated. My boyfriend said: “No, he knew it all along. He would just not disagree with your mom. He loved her, just the way she is. For him, your mom was perfect…” — That one being the biggest truth in the history of humanity.

At the end my boyfriend added: “For me, you’re what your mom was to your dad. You’re flawless to me. You’re my Soledad.” (that’s my mother’s name). If only people knew what those words mean to me after a long road of rejection… He made my entire year!

It’s a… Boy???

Published by Bea under Life

I’ve been working on a baby blanket for the past two weeks. I’m half way, it’s beautiful, I’m having a lot of fun. Yes, it’s made with this really cute yarn that goes in lilac, pink, baby blue and white… Cute, really cute… Really girly. That’s because my sister in law’s expecting a baby we were all convinced was going to be a girl after her first ultrasounds. Name already chosen, baby shower in the way…

Well, hold your horses. She went for one of those new 3-D ultrasounds today and guess what? IT’S A BOY! Yeah, there goes the blanket. But who cares… It’s a boy! Yay!

Oh no, I did NOT…

Published by Bea under Geeky

Oh yes, I did TOO! I went and made me a weblog with the sole purpose of marking my progress in Animal Crossing Wild World. What? Some people pick their noses, others take photos, others knit, others get drunk. I’m a ACWW gamer, and I love it!
