Devolution

I’m a Multicellular Organism in the TTLB Ecosystem.

Thank you, thank you. I’m evolving again; just a couple of days ago I was an insignificant microbe. That’s a good reminder of what my weblog used to be when I appeared as a Playful Primate. Too funny. 2 years back in the blogosphere and I’m still invisible. It’s all my fault, though… Too busy and too lazy to go after my former fame. LMAO! Yeah, right… :P

Real Feminists

When women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucrecia Mott worked on the Declaration of Sentiments, claiming for women’s right to equality in the XIX century, they had ideals that have been embraced by women all over the world for years. These ladies known as First Wave feminist focused in obtaining the right to vote and they got it. Wonderful event in the history of humanity, they wanted women to have the place they deserved in society.

Then came the 60′s-70′s revolution and women started fighting against gender-based discrimination. This brought many changes that we can see reflected in today’s society when it comes to the role of women in every field, call it home, call it work, school, etc. Another wonderful thing to highlight, for women are now capable of going after their dream whatever you want to call it.

The Holiday

theholiday.png

My last attempt to watch a new chick flick was a couple of months ago, and I was really disappointed. But I decided to try my luck renting The Holiday, a romantic comedy about break-ups, heartbreak and finding love again. I wasn’t disappointed, it isn’t the most brilliant movie, but I found it enjoyable.

Some parts can be very predictable, but aren’t all chick flicks predictable? And since I don’t like Cameron Diaz I would’ve loved to see another actress playing her role. But having Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law around made it bearable. And seriously… Is there any other guy who has such a charming smile as Jude Law? Nope. I think they all seem genuine in their character roles and the story becomes cute and inspiring at times if you can read between the lines. Plus it’s all about houses, I love looking inside houses.

I liked it. Maybe you will. ★★★1/2

Thinking Blogger Award

thinkblog.jpg

Logtar decided I decided an award for making people think with my weblog. I certainly don’t think I’m posting anything of substance these days (at least not like I used to), but if there are people who appreciate what I have to say, then my writings are not in vain. Thank you so much, Logtar!

And this is a meme, which makes it really cool because you can highlight weblogs by people who have interesting things to say. The rules are really simple:

1. If you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the “Thinking Blogger Award” with a link to the post that you wrote.

And my Thinking Blogger Award goes to:

Sandee – Because of all her strength, because of not giving up, but especially because she’s never tried to be a hero. She’s battling against cancer, and the disease may have changed what she looks like, but she’s the same person inside. What I admire the most about her is that she’s not afraid to say that she’s tired, that she misses what she has lost. What Sandee doesn’t realize is that she’s much more than what she think is gone.

Daniel – Which already got the award from John, but who cares! Daniel is a classy guy, who has excellent writing skills, and who is a nice person to talk to (even if our chats have been brief). I like smart people, and he is a smart guy who doesn’t save words about what he has to say, and who seems passionate about life.

Roberto – Because I actually have to read his posts with a dictionary (OK, I’m exaggerating). He’s well informed, he has a critical and objective mind, he’s concerned about issues that aren’t too evident for the usual reader. His comments about my entries are always deep and they DO make me think. Way to go, Roberto! I’m glad you decided to join the blogosphere.

Rob – A new weblog in my list. He’s as passionate as me about global warming. He’s an analytical writer, he shares both his day to day life and his views on world issues. And his photos are really nice!

Ramsey – More than his words, what is appealing about his weblog are his illustrations. They have a meaning I cannot decipher most of the time, but Ramsey’s a sweet guy with an amazing talent he uses to express his deepest feelings.
