Not too good, but good enough
I just came back from my appointment with the endocrinologist. She turned out to be this really cool woman from Philippines, who gave me high five when I told her I got re-married. Ha ha ha! She was very nice, very friendly, and she didn't make me feel like I was a loser with all the health issues I'm dealing with right now. I tend to compare every doctor with the endocrinologist I had in Montreal, who was a total asshat.
Anyway, this is how things went:
1. I've lost 5 pounds, go me!
2. I will have to start taking Glucophage because my blood sugar is still high.
3. I will have to start taking medication for my prolactin levels to go down.
4. I will have to attend Diabetes education sessions.
5. I have to schedule a MRI to check my pituitary gland.
6. I've lost 5 pounds... Ha ha ha ha! (Just felt like saying it again)
Most people would be discouraged with the amount of medication I have to be on from now, or with the news, etc. But I am not. I am feeling optimistic, and I know that if I'm disciplined I can keep a relatively good health. I will go and drop my new prescriptions at Walgreens (stupid CVS didn't do it for us, and we had our prescriptions switched), and then I will wait for a brand new FREE glucometer that is coming in the mail probably next week.
Plans for today: We're going to see the KC Wizards play against the LA Galaxy at Arrowhead tonight. Yippeee! Unfortunately, Beckham is not playing and I can't brag about seeing him (LOL), but well... Pro Soccer is always fun! It's a beautiful day, I'm sure it's going to cool off in the evening, all my camera batteries are re-charged, and I'm ready to have fun.
Off to call for appointment scheduling and whatnots. I hope everyone is having a great day!
Cane
John and I followed the premiere of CBS' new show "Cane" last night and we loved it. It looks like a latino version of The Sopranos, with all the intrigue, the money, the plots, the dark family history, and that thirst for revenge.
It's got a great cast, as well, with Hector Elizondo, Jimmy Smith (who I've liked since the L.A. Law days), and our very own Colombian Paola Turbay. She actually made a great impression, for she's not that cutesy beauty pageant contestant I saw in the 90's, but a great actress who speaks impeccable English.
It was great to see an almost all-latino cast on prime time television. And I'm sure we won't miss a single episode of what looks like a fantastic saga.

Orkut Sickness
This is absolutely disturbing. People are creating fake profiles on Orkut and stealing photos of children from Flickr to add to the profiles. What is it with the insanity, for God's sake? How deranged can someone be?
This is exactly why I'm against posting public photos of children. It doesn't matter how cute they are, or how sacred some of us think they are, there will always be some psycho wanting to do disgusting things.
If you are a Flickr user, join the campaign to stop this abuse. Post something about it, do something about it! I hate it when people take photos that DO NOT belong to them and post them in their own sites, especially personal ones. But children? Sick, really sick!

Be Happy!
The Happiness Project has become one of my favourite weblogs, along with others I found thanks to LifeRemix. Gretchen Rubin defines her weblog as follows:
"I'm working on a book, THE HAPPINESS PROJECT--a memoir about the year I spent test-driving every principle, tip, theory, and scientific study I could find, whether from Aristotle or St. Therese or Martin Seligman or Oprah. THE HAPPINESS PROJECT will gather these rules for living and report on what works and what doesn’t. On this daily blog, I recount some of my adventures and insights as I grapple with the challenge of being happier."
It looks like many people are focused in trying to live healthier, happier, less busy lives. I'm all for it! The more the merrier. And now there is a Facebook group.
