Halle Berry says what?

I don’t know what’s more outrageous. Halle Berry’s sharing stupid stories about her Type 1 Diabetes “switching” to Type 2 because she doesn’t need insulin, or the media who doesn’t get more informed on the issue. It’s sickening to see this kind of misinformation, it makes me angry!

Type 1 and Type 2 are COMPLETELY different in their etiology, developed in/by two different ways. One does NOT become the other. We would think people these days can differentiate one from the other, but we would be wrong. Come on, some still think diabetes is the result of eating too much sugar, meh! That’s probably one of the reasons why research gets slow at times: IGNORANCE!

Berry says:

I’ve managed to ween myself off insulin, so now I like to put myself in the Type 2 category.

I say: Honey, you better learn more and stop making a fool of yourself in public. Don’t be so freaking stupid and understand that if you’re Type 1, you will never be able to make it without insulin. And it’s wean, not ween. Ugh.

For Your Marriage

An ad on the radio just now: What have you done for your marriage today? It made me curious, so I checked their website: For Your Marriage – My first thought? Cute, but also wise. A site with resources for the happily ever after.

It seems to me that people give up way too easily these days. I experienced divorce, and while I’m happily married again and thankful for the life I have now, I wish it happened differently.

If you’re married, and you believe in this beautiful institution, you should visit For Your Marriage. It is important to understand that we all have problems, that life gets hard, but it doesn’t mean we have to run away or give up. Fight for your happiness, keep your relationship alive.

I recommend the Daily Marriage Tips.

KUDL Kansas City

I don’t like listening to radio that much. Too much talking drives me crazy, I was traumatized last year in Chicoutimi because they played NO music in the morning. It was this yadda yadda non-stop… I got angry. Radio stations are not my cup of tea for the most part, but I finally found one I like in KC.

KUDL – Soft Rock. 98.1 on the dial. Good selection of music, decent morning talk and un-crazy publicity. I think I’ll stick with it for a while. It’s an alternative to iTunes or Pandora.

Offensive Diabetes

Interesting discussion in TuDiabetes.com: Is the term Diabetic offensive?

My answer:

If the term Diabetes offends some people, then we patients should educate them. Diabetes isn’t a curse, it isn’t an insult. It’s a condition, of epidemic proportions, so it’s not like people don’t know about it. Some of us could have avoided it, some others didn’t have the choice. Would you find the term Cancer offensive? It’s a disease, like any other. I am not proud to call myself a Diabetic, but I am not ashamed to admit it so. It’s my reality, and it will be forever. Others may as well get used to it.

Facebook is the $h1t! ;-)

I don’t know how many times in the last few months I’ve gone “Yayyy!” and my husband looks at me like “What now?” – It’s all because of Facebook. I’m getting in contact with a lot of people I used to be friends with when I was a kid or when I was in High School. I get really excited every time I see an old friend’s name and when I get in touch with them again.

I grew up in a small city in Colombia, one of those places where everybody knows everyone. And there are many people from the place in Facebook, so it’s like this big gathering. It’s great to know what they are up to, if they are married, if they have children, if they live out of the country. It’s all fun, good fun.

I’ve made people join, people who hate computers… they have fallen in love with Facebook. I created a group for my High School, and we’re up to 149 members. All those familiar faces, friends, cousins, whoever… I’m loving it!
