Friday’s Feast 177

Today’s Friday’s Feast brought to you by Walgreens.

Appetizer
How many times per day do you usually laugh?
Hmmm… I haven’t really counted them. I do laugh often, though.

Soup
What do your sunglasses look like?
Like this, and this, and this, and this. Hah! :D

Salad
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go? Good question. My continent would be South America, and I would go to Chile, so I get to see it all.

Main Course
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city.
Traffic moves fast, and you can get anywhere in 20 minutes. Plus, people are actually nice on the roads.

Dessert
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best?
Too freaky. Blue is just fine for me.

Obesity Surgery and Diabetes

Read on Yahoo! News:

CHICAGO – A new study gives the strongest evidence yet that obesity surgery can cure diabetes. Patients who had surgery to reduce the size of their stomachs were five times more likely to see their diabetes disappear over the next two years than were patients who had standard diabetes care, according to Australian researchers.

The way I see it, or at least what I have learnt, Diabetes has NO cure. We can manage to live a healthy life without the need of medication or insulin, but as far as I know, the disease will always be there. I don’t know if I’m being difficult, but when I read the word CURE, I’m afraid people are being misinformed. I suppose I have to give credit to the research teams and the doctors, though.

As for weight-loss surgery, it is something I have thought about myself, but have never looked at carefully. I think some people may not have another option, but it isn’t one for me.

Surgery risks should be weighed against diabetes drug side effects and the long-term risks of diabetes itself, they (researchers) said.

We will keep on hoping for a cure. :-)

Weird Cat Behaviour?

I’m sure I’m not the only cat owner dealing with this issue. But you see, cats are supposed to be independent, kind of snobbish, animals. They only come around when they want to, and they don’t follow commands. And Shayla is for the most part as self-centered as any other cat I know, even extra.

However, her attachment to me is reaching the needy levels. Don’t misunderstand me, I love Shayla, and I feel honoured that she wants to be so close to me. But when I go to the bathroom and she starts scratching the door like crazy for me to let her in? She won’t leave me alone. So sometimes I let the door open and she comes in, meows all the time, I talk to her, etc.

I know, no biggie, but I’m curious. Why the bathroom? She’s always doing something else when I’m busy. But the minute I go potty, she has to be there. Hah… Crazy animal.

Oh, the humanity!

Oh, for God’s sake! The guy is dead. Leave him alone already.

A U.S. gay hate group has sparked outrage with plans to picket the funeral of tragic actor HEATH LEDGER. The Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas – run by Reverend Fred Phelps – has posted plans on its website to protest at Ledger’s portrayal of a gay cowboy in 2005 film Brokeback Mountain. The web bulletin reads, “‘Brokeback Mountain’ star – Heath Ledger – is dead. WBC will picket this pervert’s funeral, in religious protest and warning. “Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and His plan word. Ledger is now in Hell, and has begin serving his eternal sentence there.”

I can’t believe a man who calls himself a Christian is actually leading this kind of bigotry.
