Friday’s Feast 184

Today’s Friday’s Feast brought to you by Hamilton Beach.

Appetizer
Given the choice, would you prefer to live in the country or in the city?
If I have to choose without any other option, I would definitely prefer to live in the city. I grew up in the country side, and it was fun… a lot of fun. But I like having everything close, especially schools and hospitals.

Soup
Who is the cutest kid you know?
Seriously, who can answer this question without being biased? All the kids in my immediate family. :-) They are adorable!

Salad
Fill in the blank:
I couldn’t believe it when I heard Shakira didn’t want to go to the Concierto por la Paz with Juanes, Carlos Vives and other Hispanic artists. Meh! :P

Juanes is darn cute!

Main Course
If you could star in a commercial for one of your favorite products, which one would you want to advertise? None. I really don’t want to be in a commercial.

Dessert
What type(s) of vitamins and/or supplements do you take on a regular basis?
I take B12 complex, fish oil and a multi. My doctor also found that I had a Vitamin D deficiency, so I’m taking one pill a week, and she also told me to take calcium.

Mostly your emotions are on an even keel and you do not get depressed easily, however you feel strong cravings and urges that you have difficulty resisting. You tend to prefer short-term pleasures and rewards over long-term consequences. You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. Familiar routines are good, but sometimes you like to spice up your life with a bit of adventure or activity. You see no need for pretense or manipulation when dealing with others and are therefore candid, frank and sincere. People find it relatively easy to relate to you, however you feel superior to those around you and sometimes tend to be seen as arrogant by other people. You are a reasonably organized person and like to have a certain amount of routine in your life.

Take a Personality Test

The “Dangers” of Facebook

Now that I’m actively looking for a job, every time I see an article about employment I read it. Last night I was going through my latest issue of Reader’s Digest, and there was a cover title that caught my eye. I thought it contained tips on job search, but it was much more interesting than that. Nothing new, really, but it was the first time I actually read about the things we display in social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook.

I will admit it openly and shamelessly: I’m very picky about what I put on my profile. And yes, I tend to be anal when I see another person’s profile and I see nonsense after nonsense. It goes from the very innocent glitter graphics to the not so innocent photos of drunken moments. It annoys me to no end, but far was I from realizing that it can actually make your potential employer think twice before hiring you.

I joined MySpace for fun. I joined Facebook to reconnect with old friends and do some school networking. Both sites have allowed me to catch up with people, and they have also gotten me into trouble because I can’t keep my mouth shut when I think someone has way too much unnecessary stuff in those. And who really cares, right? But when there is a chance for an employer to do a name search and discover things you wouldn’t share with someone who can hire you… And then they decide that is poor judgment? It’s a risk, in my opinion.

I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing. Most people strive to live their life without having to worry about what others think of them. And now there is the possibility of having your job opportunities disappear if your online persona doesn’t have what potential employers are looking for.

Interesting. Makes me think of what is it that I have out there that could shock someone. Nothing, really. I guess being picky isn’t so bad after all.

What do you want me to blog about?

Seen at a friend’s journal:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don’t blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don’t blog about, but you’d like to hear about, and I’ll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own blog so that we can all learn more about each other.

That being said, I reserve myself the right to post or not. Hah! ;-)
