Friday’s Feast 183

Today’s Friday’s Feast brought to you by Always.

Appetizer
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how much do you like your own handwriting?
I would say 8-9. Everyone tells me I have nice handwriting, or at least I try to make it legible. The most interesting thing was having someone analyze it a couple of months ago. It was very accurate, and who would’ve known… I need to raise my t bar in order to have more specific goals in life.

Soup
Do you prefer baths or showers?
It depends. I think a shower is better if I want to clean myself really well. But when it comes to relaxation time, there is nothing better than a warm bubble bath and candles.

Salad
What was the last bad movie you watched?
I wasn’t too impressed with Jumper. The story was weak, too many questions without answers, and Hayden Christensen should be doing something else rather than acting.

Main Course
Name something you are addicted to and describe how it affects your life.
That is easy: My computer with an Internet connection. I get sidetracked by it ALL the time. Sometimes I forget about the world around me, and then I have to catch up with housework.

Dessert
Which instrument is your favorite to listen to?
Definitely the piano. But a good violin concerto is always welcome.

Dreaming of Snakes

Sueño con serpientes, con serpientes de mar,
con cierto mar, ay, de serpientes sueño yo.
Largas, transparentes, y en sus barrigas llevan
lo que puedan arrebatarle al amor.

(Silvio Rodríguez)

I dreamed of snakes last night, among other troubling things. A friend told me it means I have an enemy around. I’m still thinking it’s because I was discussing how disgusting is that guy who eats all kinds of creepy things around the world. He tried snake penis… YUCK!

And this is what the dream dictionary says:

As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.

Across the Universe

I had the opportunity to listen to Across The Universe soundtrack before watching the movie. I loved the renditions of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s songs by the actors, but watching the movie made it so much better. Each song was chosen perfectly for every scene, and I was greatly surprised to see Bono and Eddie Izzard in cameo appearances. To be honest, I didn’t read much about the film before watching it, not even the synopsis on the Netflix sleeve.

Across The Universe is a musical based on The Beatles songbook and set in the 60s England, America, and Vietnam. The love story of Lucy and Jude is intertwined with the anti-war movement and social protests of the 60s. The actors did an excellent job, the script is impeccable, and the art direction and photography are really good as well. I’m not much of a fan of musicals, but I had to see this one, and I’m glad I did.
