And where are the other hostages?

One would usually take the news about the FARC freeing two hostages in a good way. And yes, I’m happy for Mrs. Clara Rojas and the other woman who will finally be free, but this issue has more political implications that anyone could imagine.

First, the FARC keep disrespecting and ignoring the Colombian government, by accepting conditions given by a president of another country. In this case, Hugo Chávez, a very unpopular man with an amazing histrionic aptitude. I am so tired of seeing how he tries to be all over the place, trying to full fill his dream of becoming the second Simón Bolívar or God knows what.

While it is true that we Colombians should be glad about the liberation of these two hostages, we also know there are at least 3.000 people who have been kidnapped by the FARC, and are still held against their will. We will never forget how they killed 11 lawmakers and lied to the government. We will never forget the horrible things they do every single day. And we have to see more peaceful acts by these people who claim they have better ideas to manage Colombian politics.

I’m sorry, but I have to take this with a grain of salt. And I can’t help it but wonder what is it the FARC will do now, and what will be Chávez’s next step in his race for power.
