After I posted that comment, I found one of the rants. I see him less as a would-be Bolivar and more as a very shrewd man who seeks to get the most personal power and property possible. That is why he admires Fidel Castro, who was until recently the undisputed owner of all of Cuba the boss of all Cubans. Look at Castro's Cuba, or North Korea (where dictator-worship is actually a religion) to see where he wants Venezuela to end up.

The sad thing is that until 1990 or so, Latin America was wracked with wars, most caused by those admired by Chavez. The place is pretty peaceful for a while now, except for FARC's war. Chavez seems hellbent on igniting conflict in Latin America again. Is the world ready for tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of deaths from the new wars? Or for all the refugees fleeing Chavez' war zones into the US or other countries? He has already all but declared war on Colombia and Guyana.

I can't say I ever heard one of their songs!

Seeing the anti-FARC banner, I wonder what you think of Hugo Chavez moving to support FARC, which is pretty much matter of Venezuela declaring war against Colombia?
