Diabetes Mini-Campaign
Posted: October 24th, 2001 | Author: Bea | Filed under: Life | Comments OffI’m early for a Mini Campaign I’m planning. Many of you may know that November is Diabetes Awareness Month and many of you don’t know that I’m Pre-Diabetic, with a very well controled blood sugar level (I just made my test and it was 5.7, with 7.5 being the high limit).
I lost my father last year due to a Diabetes complicaton (heart disease) even if he took care of himself, followed the Dr.’s advice and a strict diet combined with exercise. It wasn’t enough… this “Silent Killer” doesn’t give a chance to anyone and it is in our hands to make whatever we can to find a cure.
I was always concerned about the disease, for I loved my father more than anyone else in the world and when I saw him dying at the Intensive Care Unit, I understood that I had to do something. Then, in last April my Endocrinologist told me that I had Diabetes too. So now it’s time to act and help others too; we can’t let this monster to take away our lives and the lives of those we love so much.
My Mini Campaign consists in giving links containing information about Diabetes everyday. If you want to join me, just let me know. And answer me this question: Are you or someone in your family or among your friends a victim of Diabetes? We’ve got to do something!
