30 minutes ago I was really upset because after working like a dog all week, under staff and doing everyone else’s job because they are in some kind of festival of their religious group, I got a call from the administration office in Ottawa saying: “I’m so sorry, I just got back from the celebrations and I couldn’t send your check in time. I’ll send it on Tuesday”. I thought, great! long weekend without pay check, not fair. I was about to explode and tell a few things to the manager, but I calmed down. This is the first time something like this happens (and I hope the last!) and I don’t want to sound like a greedy bitch.
And just two minutes ago the sun came up for me. I got an e-mail from my best friend, who is suffering a lot, she’s so sad and out of hope, but yet she took the time and love to tell me: “God rewards kind people and He will send you a beautiful baby, and I’ll be an auntie sooner than you think, because I know no one kinder than you. You’re in my prayers, my friend. You’re one of the people I love the most in the world”.
I’m in front in the computer, crying like an idiot out of joy and very grateful because God shows me what are the important things in life every second. Yes, maybe I don’t have a paycheck this weekend, maybe I cannot go shopping like I had planned. But I have much more important things to care about, I have the love of my husband, the love of my family, the love of my friends and that is way better than a paycheck.
Now excuse me, I’m going to look for a Kleenex, wipe my tears, hug my wonderful Patrice and continue with my work. Then we’ll go home and relax :-) Good weekend for everyone!
It sounds like you friend wrote you just in time, Bea. I’m glad she was able to cheer you up, I’m afraid your bosses excuse was a bit lame, if you ask me.
“because I know no one kinder than you” – your friend was right, Bea :)
You are such a good person, Beatriz! Most people would have called the administrator and screamed! :) God will reward you for your understanding!
You’re a wonderful persom Beatriz! And I’m glad that you remembered that there are other things far more important than money. Without friends and family, we would have nothing.
