I just came back from my appointment with the endocrinologist. She turned out to be this really cool woman from Philippines, who gave me high five when I told her I got re-married. Ha ha ha! She was very nice, very friendly, and she didn’t make me feel like I was a loser with all the health issues I’m dealing with right now. I tend to compare every doctor with the endocrinologist I had in Montreal, who was a total asshat.
Anyway, this is how things went:
1. I’ve lost 5 pounds, go me!
2. I will have to start taking Glucophage because my blood sugar is still high.
3. I will have to start taking medication for my prolactin levels to go down.
4. I will have to attend Diabetes education sessions.
5. I have to schedule a MRI to check my pituitary gland.
6. I’ve lost 5 pounds… Ha ha ha ha! (Just felt like saying it again)
Most people would be discouraged with the amount of medication I have to be on from now, or with the news, etc. But I am not. I am feeling optimistic, and I know that if I’m disciplined I can keep a relatively good health. I will go and drop my new prescriptions at Walgreens (stupid CVS didn’t do it for us, and we had our prescriptions switched), and then I will wait for a brand new FREE glucometer that is coming in the mail probably next week.
Plans for today: We’re going to see the KC Wizards play against the LA Galaxy at Arrowhead tonight. Yippeee! Unfortunately, Beckham is not playing and I can’t brag about seeing him (LOL), but well… Pro Soccer is always fun! It’s a beautiful day, I’m sure it’s going to cool off in the evening, all my camera batteries are re-charged, and I’m ready to have fun.
Off to call for appointment scheduling and whatnots. I hope everyone is having a great day!
