Oprah goes Gabo

The day before I came back I had to see with great pleasure the news about 100 Years of Solitude (100 Años de Soledad) being the new selection for the Oprah’s Book Club. This book written by our very Colombian Nobel Prize Gabriel García Márquez has been called a “the first piece of literature since the book of Genesis that sould be required reading for the entire human race” by the New York Times. I just feel so proud and now I want to read it again, after many years of having had to read it for one of my Spanish and Literature classes in High School; I don’t think I enjoyed the “must” reading back then, but I’m so looking forward to getting a copy soon.

That book is just unbelievably incredible. I read it while I was in college, and then re-read it a few years later. It may just be time to find my copy and begin again!
