Remembering

The Pope has left Canada and he's now in Guatemala. What I didn't know is that he's actually there for the canonization of Pedro de Betancur; who's that anyway? Well, he's the founder of the religious order of my High School (I went to a nuns school). Every year we learned about his kindness and the things he did for poor people, we grew up to love the "Hermanito Pedro" and I know today there is going to be a big party at the Bethlemitas order around the world. It makes me happy :-) I can't complain about the nuns... sure they were a pain sometimes, but the education they gave us is something to highlight.

This might appear irrelevant for many people, but for me is embracing a symbol of love and the memory of a person I learned about during all my school life (I went to the Sacred Heart school from 1979 to 1991). This canonization is surely deserved because Pedro de Betancur was definitely a man of God and I join my heart to those of the religious community to celebrate it.

  1. Bea, I love how you provide so many newsy entries and, more importantly, all these wonderful links to follow to read up on things. I’d heard the Pope was going to canonize someone, but know I know who and, just as important, why. Thanks again.
