Don't praying mantis' females eat their mates after copulation... and what about the black widow spider?

So I guess Alex's source "Anon" should revise that statement to say "Humans are members of one of at least three species, on this planet, that poses the capability to interfere with its own growth."

Maybe you should "revise" your Biology information to understand that populations in nature regulate themselves PROPERLY, not like we humans that kill each other as a sport. And the Praying Mantis' killing the male individual after what you call copulation and I call mating, is a Reproductive Strategy to regulate their species populations and make the sexual selection work to mantain the BALANCE in nature (interesting fact: did you know that with some species the male cannot pass off its spermaphere containing his sperm until his head has been removed?). It takes one to study Population Dynamics to understand that the Homo sapiens is not acting too good in this matter, predating their own with the use of technology.

Praying Mantis don't think because their brains are simply to small to be biologically viable for rationalization. However, we humans do; well, I don't think we are thinking too much these days. Don't tell me gases, war, killing people and so on are a way of regulating populations because I'm going to puke. There is the concept of "Social Selection" that is extremely scary, considering that the ones with power are always wanting to "regulate" the not so powerful by the worst means there are.

I'll recommend you to go and read something about the humankind impact on the planet and you will find that we are the cause of many disasters and extinctions of other species during the last few years and it seems that we're reaching the point to which we can destroy our own. If all that "rationalization" was used differently we could become more like other species that go forward in their evolution because of the simple fact that there are not thinking how to hurt each other, but simply looking for survival and balance. Violence, coming from ANY country or organization, is what is killing us. The use of weapons, the thirst for power... that cannot lead anywhere good and most of us know it.

I'll ask you one question & then hush ...

When the day comes that Canada finds out they are on the hit list, the TARGET of one of these countries that are listed among [what you seem to consider a joke] the axis of evil, who exactly do you believe Canada is going to call upon for assistance?
Please read.

I'm not trying to be nasty, I'm stating a fact - I don't believe in war - why would I my hubby is a service member & I don't want him coming home to me in a body bag - please though, remember just because you don't agree with something or someONE [ie: President Bush] doesn't mean you need to make every single American & our military out to be monsters.

I love ya Bea ... honest! {{{{{{ Bea }}}}}}

Have I, at any point in this entry, said that the US or its people are bad? If you read carefully I'm mentioning how crazy terrorists can be if we keep showing them how to attack, and I mention that EVERYONE in the humankind should look at their actions. And I don't make jokes about the Axis of Evil (except for joking about my own self and some of my good friends), although many seem to think that it's formed by people rather than countries.

The fact that I don't agree with creation of weapons of mass destruction doesn't mean that I hate or have something against Americans and I'm not going to repeat it anymore. I just don't understand why is there so much information out there about things the United States could be doing differently if they want to be crusaders for peace.

As for Canada being in the hit list, I don't think anyone really wants to hit this country that doesn't get involved in anybody's business or should I say that, from what I've learned, I've come to the conclusion the hatred of the fundamentalist terrorists seems to be pretty much against only ONE nation? And the decision to call for help when (if) Canada is attacked, will be taken by a government I still don't recognize as my own and who I still don't understand. If something happens I'm sure a big number of canadians will blame the foreign policies that have made the middle east countries turn into what they are now. If Canada is touched, it'll be because of its ties with the US and because all this global crusade against terror that doesn't seem to be generating anything but trouble.

But do I have to tell you once again that I DO know what is to live with terrorism???? I AM NOT Canadian, I come from a country that has been hit by war over the past 50 years (and people keep thinking that I don't know anything about suffering), a country that has been affected by foreign policies, like many other countries. And they ask why the anti-americanism?... Still, all I care about its people who are victims of any system that seems to generate contempt and terrorist actions.

Freedom is only understood in the terms of some, but not globally as they want us to believe. My own family is in danger every single day and we have loved ones in the national army putting their bodies in the battle of field to protect us. Still, we are not wanting to mess up with the rest of the world because we simply don't have the means and because we are tired of violent actions.

Don't ask me to understand arms races and the will of some countries to go to war, spending time and money creating sophisticated weapons, while 25 of the 40 million of people in my country live in poverty, and where 11 of these 25 million don't even have even 2 dollars/day/family to survive. Still the rich countries get richer thanks to the outrageous external debts countries like mine have. Don't ask me to understand and don't tell me that I hate americans just because I come here to say that I'm afraid of war and that I long for justice. I Know what war is... I've seen it killing thousands of people in my OWN country and no one really cares, except for us.

It's interesting how many people think Canada will call on them. Even more interesting is the fact that most of the world is calling on them to stop smoking crack before voting.
