Hi people! It seems like ages to me since I posted like 5 days ago. No special news on this side, life moves smoothly in the tropics and the family is doing well. I’m having the most fun with my nephew who happens to be a very well raised kid, who likes to play and laugh, but I don’t know a child more respectful and obedient… not to mention how sweet and loving he is towards us, especially “Tía Tiz”. It’s like falling in love with him again and again.

I’ve spent the last couple of days being some kind of Teacher’s Aid for our maid’s little girl who goes to school and has some trouble understanding homework and has learning problems, but with my sister in law (an angel of God that woman!) we have been taking care of it and the girl seems to be really happy to have that help extra when her mom is doing housework. We just finished her Maths homework, I told her to rest a little and later I’ll dictate (spelling?) a few lines for her to practice her writting. This is definitely what I want to do… help kids to do homework… be with them when they need a big person to orientate them. My best friend, who is a Language Therapist, is also helping. Oh! I feel so happy to be with my buddy these days.

It’s so hot here in Cali! Temperature went up to 35°C yesterday and today it’s like the same, but the sun is shinning and I LOVE to hear all those tropical birds singing. Mom went to her painting lessons (she’s doing wonders!) and I’ve been here reading Ingrid Betancourt’s “La Rabia en el Corazón” (translation of “La Rage au Coeur”), a book about the political scandal in Colombia. I admire her so! I started to read the book last night and I’m almost done with it.

Later there is a mass for Grandma whose death announcement appeared today in the local newspaper: “We registered with weighing the death of la Señora Soledad Prado de Cadavid, distinguished member of the Palmira society, which took place recently at the age of 100. A cultured and generous woman was she, in whom numerous moral and civic qualities were conjugated. At her one hundred years her family and her friends enjoyed her presence, her kind heart and her shining intelligence. We send condolences to her family.

Bea, Tutoring is amazing! I did it last year on a part time basis! It was so fun and rewarding! All you have to do (ususaly) is contact a school near you and let them know! There’s always children that need extra help!

That is so cute that he calls you Tia Tiz. I didn’t realize the spanish word for aunt is the same as in portuguese, makes sense that is it though ;) Have you thought of helping in an after school program when you get home?
