When my co-workers and I go out to lunch, there is always someone who brings food from home. So there have been a couple of times when the person feels too shy about bringing her food in the restaurant, and we start giving her a hard time. My lines? “This is a free country!” or “We will be paying for food, what’s a seat?” or “Don’t be silly, you can bring your food inside, and if they tell you something we’ll give them crap.”
Well, this past weekend John and I were going to see a movie with a couple of friends, but we stopped to grab something to eat first. He wanted Panda Express, and I wanted nothing to do with MSG’s. So Wendy’s Drive-Thru it was from me, and then John stopped for his Chinese, but he wanted to go in. I started fussing and saying I felt bad about bringing Wendy’s into Panda Express, and he gave me exactly the same lines I give my co-worker. I brought my Wendy’s bag in, and sat in a corner where nobody could see us… ha ha ha!
Obviously I’m not the only person who worries about not eating food from a restaurant when taking their space. But now I’m curious about what people think about it. Am I being stupid? Yeah… Ermmm… Whatevs.
Yet another reason why Chipotle is the awesomeness…they could care less if parents bring in their unadventurous kids’ Happy Meals…as long as the parents are eating there.
Unless you’re trying to smuggle McDonalds into The Bristol or Savoy or something, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Being honest, there are few restaraunt employees that would look twice at your contraband. They just don’t care enough. Having a 3 year old, if we didn’t mix up the menus, my husband and I would never eat out at any place but McDonalds. (Yes, she’s THAT picky)…
Buffets, buffets where you pay at entry get pissy if somebody is not eating at all or brings their own food in. Well one did, the one time we tried, But I have never seen any problem elsewhere.
